I was able to interview the twice Emmy-Nominated Costume Designer of The Closer, Greg LaVoi. He's a major lover of vintage fashion, so I thought some of you might like to read the interview.

Excerpt: "Growing up in the 1960’s my dad owned a mens and boys clothing store, and my mom was a real fashion plate so I loved watching the two of them dress and wear great clothes. There was a civility to that era that got lost in the 1970’s when people relaxed and lost their manners and breeding. By using vintage on the screen and in my daily life I help show girls today that you can still dress like a lady and function in a man’s world. I hope I am educating the masses that good construction and design never goes out of style, and vintage is the best place to learn how really fine clothes were meant to be made and worn."

How old are you? 17

Where do you belong in time? Everywhere and anywhere, nowhere and somewhere. Anything from ancient Egypt, 16th century France or England. The turn of the century, twenties, thirties Hollywood glamour, fourties countryside.

What are your hobbies? Baking, writing, reading, asking questions, taking polaroids with my boyfriend, Kenneth, designing clothing, sewing, painting, being quixotic:].

What brings you to our community? I saw you somewhere and found your theme perfectly suited to myself.

Would you like to share any photographs, words, etc?:

"I wanted to tell the book thief many things, about beauty and brutality. But what could I tell her about those things that she didn't already know? I wanted to explain that I am constantly overestimating and underestimating the human race - that rarely do I ever simply estimate it. I wanted to ask her how the same thing could be so ugly and so glorious, and its words and stories so damning and brilliant. None of those things, however, came out of my mouth."

I found a few copies of Eve magazine from the late 30's and a photography book from the same era. There is so much that I could scan but I thought I would share some scans from Eve first!

How old are you? 18
Where do you belong in time? A mixture.  (In terms of fashion aesthetic) 
I like the 60's and 70's nouvelle vague scene. (Anna Karina! <3)  but I also like the 50's Harvard student style. Kind of like the fashion characters in a J.D Salinger novel would have! The  argyle sweaters, pleated skirts and wooden pipes. etc,   
As for the 70's .... I liked the neutral earth tones that were very popular, I thought the general color scheme looked were very nice on everything (Clothes, home decor, appliances haha) ; I also have a guilty pleasure for the mod/sci-fi look to haha.

In terms of intellectual stand points; The 50's had the Beat movement, and the 20's had the Dada movement. (Surrealism I suppose as well, but I think that became more developed in the 30's though). That's the art I've always liked.

What are your hobbies?  Writing, Reading, Listening to music, Making/doodling greeting cards, Hanging out with zee frenz, Baking, Taking pictures (polaroid and lomo plz) etc,

What brings you to our community? I saw you affiliated with 'herheartinabox'. And I thought your community was really cute and interesting!
